So I'm eating grapes and pecans. They're doing a relatively good job of consoling me, for edibles anyways. Today started out quite nicely with beaded models of DNA in bio (woot woot! klutz deja vue) and things were just so happy, and then it spiralled into a bum of a day...shucksos.
Sometimes I think my family disappears off the face of the earth for days on end...I haven't talked to any of them in four days, one email only, and I can't reach them :S
just a bit disappointing.
We had modern today though :) it makes me feel so great inside, truly free...man, I'd been craving one of those classes.
But now I'm really....deflated. So I'd better eat some more grapes. And then sleep...I'm ZONKED.
night all

bonding on a rainy day :)
Rez life this week has been great so far :)
Today we took pictures of the girls on my floor frolicking in the rain on campus. it was entertaining to say the least xD.
Today indoor soccer starts :o
I don't really know what to expect... i hope it's enjoyableee.
The rest of this week is pretty packed- which i like for the most part. Apparently i have some meeting tomorrow for recreational-something-or-other and am baking cookies thursday night for all of campus??? haha ohhhh my.
I am finally starting to get that familial feeling with the girls on my floor :)
they're throwing a party for my birthday! :D
It's really eye-opening to live with so many different people. I don't regret coming here at all :)
And i do think it's about time for the 5 of us to enjoy eachother's company <3

closed lids.
ahhhhh, my eyelids are clllooooosssssiiinnnnnngggggg...
I am determined to creat a post though. And it's taking all my last reserves of will power to do it, so just keep that in mind in the moments where I make no sense at all. I actually probably do make sense, but only to the readers who are in the same state of brain whallup as I am. It's a pretty zonky dimension, I must say, full of sleepy heads and stars and boggle-your-mind sturf...nice break from regular daytime brainspace.
Anyways. It has been a heck of a busy week, I've been running on pure adrenaline since Tuesday and I'm actually looking forward to Monday's regular schedule as a 'break'...well maybe not entirely. But we are so, so, busy preparing for tomorrow's School Picnic which has demolished the meaning of time and energy. I've actually had zero time to accomplish homework, general daily processes, or anything remotely unmandatory. Today we had ballet class in the morning, which was 'observed' by some peeps as part of a "Culture Day" or something...about 3/4 of the class ended up sitting out on the side for various reasons...and the pianist managed to get slower, and slower and slower with each jump exercise, so my body is in paaaiiiiiinnnnnnn now. Ach. Then we had a quick lunch before our class got together for 4 hours to rehearse our dance for the picnic, go over the schedule, inform our classmates of the activities, try out the activities and organize personnel. Our class can be so dysfunctional, now I'm totally bummed out at anything social - posting stuff on the internet is as far as I'm willing to go for the rest of the evening...I've lost all the patience I'd worked up for it and more. Then I went shopping for little gifts for my 'little buddies,' they're both so sweet :), and came back to res....yay, homework time. Major chem presentation, a powerpoint that's taken me 7 hours to put together, and way to much rehearsing...and MLA formatting is now on my list of 'worst enemies' along with 'snail-paced pianists' and 'dysfunctional groups.' I'm sharpening my blades...
I have a million other assignments to work on now...so I'd better get onto it.
Tomorrow we have to get an early start to finish organizing and setting up for the picnic...then a full day of entertaining, then major rehab. This just shows me how bad I truly am at maintaining a social presence. No koodos for me...

annoyances and what not
My math course is less than interesting.
Much less than interesting.
Oh well. I'll survive. I just hope I'm able to learn something, and that my brain doesn't sut down in the process.
We went to the natural area(the same one Monika went frog catching at) today. We took a picnic lunch and hung out for a bit.
Micah is so hard core about all things creepy crawly. He found a praying mantis within the first 3 minutes of our walk. And he can catch frogs with one giant swoop. It's very disconcerting most of the time.
It's like he really IS a superhero.
It was pretty fun. At the end Taja and I cartwheeled across the field. It was funny.
Taja decided we shoould so 10 in a row, together, at the same time. Luckily we didn't crash(I would have crushed that poor child). But I didn;t make it to 10, I fell over at 9. The world was a little to spinny for my taste.
Tonight is the first night of Romeo and Juliet rehearsals. We're having a read through and I'm excited to see how that goes.
I just finished reading Half Brother by Kenneth Oppel. I really liked it. I totally cried, but that's beside the point.
I loved the characters and completely feel in love with Zan.
It's a pretty quick read, so when you have some time to spare(who am I kidding, that will never happen!) I reccomend you take the time to read this book.
I'm still sleeping in the living room... that's been pretty interesting. I'm not getting as much sleep as I would like, and I REALLY need to get a clock in there so I can know what time it is when I'm getting ready for bed, and when I wake up in the morning.
Sleepin in a room with out a door when there are 3 little people in the house is proving rather difficult. Luckily I usually wake up before Jadon(the little sleepy head doesn't get up until after 9). At least that means one less noisy person to ignor.
I really need to practice my flute, so I should probably go do that.
The stuff I'm working on is so much hard than before... I can do it. It's just taking lots of brain power

my very first field trip...officially
yup. So today I went with my art class to the AGO ;) very cool.
I am now officially experienced in the realm of field trips, and I just realised I'm gonna be late for class. So I'll hopefully blog later.
dong flarb the lack of time!

Granny outing, and school
One hour left of this lecture- seems like enough time for a quick post ;P
Yesterday, was hilarious. I had no classes so Pingping and I went out with my Grams. We took her to the mall :D. She's so funny and chatty- which i love :)
The second thing she said to Andy was "You're beautiful" hahaha his response- "uhhm, thank you.."
It was really nice taking her out, it's funny how doing something so simple makes her so..full of joy. It's weird and sad to think that she's leaving so soon. It was kind of nice having a grandparent in the same country as me.
Now for school.....
Sometimes i feel like such a stereotype running off to a coffee shop during break haha, i love it :P
The upper-year students have influenced me to be a slacker lol. I thought it was weird when they said " wow, you do your textbook reading?" and i realized.... i don't really have to read most of that stuff. A liberating realization :P
Time is going by pretty quickly and it's WICKED haha xP
I'll give my prof my full attention for the last 30 minutes of this lecture xD one down, one more to go for today!
I better see you all soon, expect me at your doorstep xD

just me, not doing homework.
Well hello blog, its been a while...
My life is a huge crazy explosion of business right now. School, gym, coaching, gym, homework, more gym. It's insane!
School is decent, with good and bad. I LOVE two teachers, dislike the other two. Math seems pretty easy, and I'm hoping for a good mark on my test that I wrote Friday. Challenge and Change is still cool, and history is awesome as always. We're looking at the Military Industrial Complex, and all the economy/politics/greedy rich guys behind war. Confusing, but still awesome.
Coaching started on Wednesday. I've got 6 and 7 year olds, so it'll be tougher than last year:( But they seem pretty cute, and most of them aren't totally new. So we'll see. It might be fun in its craziness. Then today I subbed for Ali's class (she was sick), and was SOO grateful that I coach when I do. For some reason, the kids on the weekends are INSANE. Its like all the "normal" kids come on school nights, and the ones on Sunday are only there because the parents need them out of the house. Which makes for a difficult class. I managed though, they seemed to like me:)
Anyways, I really need to stop procrastinating and do my physics homework.
But I don't want to.
Okay I'm going now.
...
Bye.

another whoops
once again I failed at describing my title. We have many more boys in our school this year, very commendable, seeing as ballet is far too often scorned at by thick-headed, bulbous males in our society. I'm not opinionated at all, and I'm really a much nicer person than this post suggests, I just don't remember exactly how to go about it at this point...I'm all 'niced out.'
So I'll stop talking now.
bye
So I'll stop talking now.

and an Abundance of Dancing Males...sadly not in our Grade
Heyyyyyyy,
So. Things have been monstrously busy (I know the adjective doesn't really fit with 'busy' but I don't have time to change it, so you'll just have to live with it :P) so far this year and I have NO, absolutely NO idea how I'm going to survive the year. There, I said it, and now I'm gonna hide in a corner until I go 'poof' into a thousand bits - each of them can do one thing for me and then maybe I'll get everything done for the day...sheesh.
So that's why I picked now to write, cause although I have a pretty good idea of how to split into those pieces, I don't really know how to piece myselves back together...sooooo, I figured writing to you was the best solution/distraction.
This year I have two spares in an entire week of classes - two hours a week to get everything done...cause we finish our school day at 6:45pm, have to change, get back to res, eat dinner, unpack our day's accumulations, do homework, shower, phone home, and I think I'm forgetting something...oh yeah, sleep. My brain is on megafast gear, and my eyes are on 'closing' gear, so most of my brain energy is going towards keeping them open - I think I should try going through a day blind. That would be quite an experience.
I'm sorry this post is so random and 'ranty' - pretty much describes my state at this point.
Anyways, I have to call Pizza Pizza to arrange food for our Annual School Picnic (I've already called them 3 times, and each time they need different info that I have to go get, hanging up in the process). Plus make posters, email a proposal to the authorities at this school, print things off in the library, do my homework, write a speech, organize photos, come up with dance poses, write a formal letter, read two books, wash my laundry, and find time to take a cold bath to relieve my aching muscles...
I'm zonked...and it's only the first week.
I would love to tell you about everything, but I'm afraid I'm being beckoned by the list, and so I'll just let you know that I really want to see you and I send my best to all of you.
...eyes are officially closed.

an abundance of singing males
This year that become the year of the singing guys.
Last night was the first night of choir, and we had 10 guys. That's totally crazy. Last year, at one point, we had 3.
I don't know if we'll be able to keep all these guys, but it would be great. It'll happen, somehow we'll make it happen.
Choral sound is just that much better with mens' voices on the bottom.
The local Glee club I'm in has 13 boys this season. Last year there was, what, five? I mean, seriously, where are all these singing men coming from?
I don't know what it is, but there is some sort of musical movement going on. The boys of the world are embracing their voices, and the vocal emsembles of my life are benifiting.
I mean, who doesn't love a bass line that can drown out all the ladies without even trying?

market, fishing and forwardness
On Saturday I went to the market with my dad and the kids.
We went to get some yummy apples so I wouldn't have to keep stealing them from Katlin's fridge.
After the market Katlin came fishing with me, the kids and my dad. That was an eventful trip... well more like, long, gross, and fishless.
My dad and Taja both caught a fish, but that was it. We kind of lost track of the time and we had to rush back so I would be able to get back in time for my audition.
Then yesterday I just invited myself over to Katlin's. Yeah, No need to invite me anymore. I'll just show up. No big deal. Oh well. It worked out.
I got to visit with Katlin, and she had an excuse to not do math homework.
See, I'm useful.
Today my on-line course started.
But my internet has been pretty inconsistant lately, so I wasn't really able to enjoy the live chat because I kept loosing connection.
Luckily I was able to listen to the recorded version for it later. Just the parts I need though, because most of it was pretty boring.
The teacher most explained how to install the programs and tools we needed, which was pretty straight forward.
I did my first assignment. Which was basically just figuring out how some of the tools we will be using work.
But as soon as I was going to send it in this evening, my Internet crashed again!
And then when I was back up I e-mailed to ask if the teacher had gotten it. And then it crashed once more before I even got a chance to send it.
Oh well.
I figured it out. It's all sent and now I know how to work most of the stuff.
The assignment was funny because she totally showed us how to do everything over the live chat. Like we didn't even have to figure out anything for ourselves. It was just, watch the chat, and copy exactly.
I just hope that the Internet doesn't give me grief tomorrow during the live chat again... I don't know how much more of this I can take.
(My Internet cut off again last night before I got to actually post this, so here it is now + some more to make my waiting worth while).
Yesterday I had my first lesson with my new piano teacher. I really liked it. It'll take a little while to get to know how we both work, but I think once we do it'll be great.
She has me working on all the Cmajor scales for grade 7 right now. Just the scales, not all the other triads, arpeggios and the like. Not yet any way. I'm also working on polishing a song I already know, and learning a new one too.
We'll see how that goes, if it's enough work, or too much, for a week.
I'm thinking I might be able to take on a bit more, but this is a comfortable start.
I also had my first flute lesson since my exam. That went pretty well. I have a lot of work to do it I want to get my grade 8 within the year.
I have some new scales to work on, and the pieces will be getting harder.
I'm working on a sonata and a study for next week. As well as all the crazy scales that I have to learn.
Wendy already knows how much I can work on, and she's not afraid to pile on more if she needs too.
I know the Glee secret my mom was hiding from me! I don't know if I should put it on-line before they announce the songs on Saturday.
But it involves me, and a song that we will be doing...
It's not nearly as thrilling as I expected.
We're not going to be on the actual show or anything ridiculous.
I wasn't even impressed when I found out, but it's growing one me...
I'll be sure to post it for you girls as soon as I can get my hands on a computer after the first rehearsal when they are going to announce all the songs.

My first bruised lip.And too many Changes.
Where to start..... blah i dunno. My roomate and I are getting along really well so far! Our room looks....pretty kickass if i do say so myself. I won a soccer award on Saturday at this massive soccer game lol. Yeah...thats where my bruised lip happened. It's mostly gone now...Rachel told me how attractive it was yesterday lol.
Do i miss home?no, but i miss summer :( And i miss familiarity.
I mean... this place is enjoyable and all...but frankly i don't trust people here the way i trust people...elsewhere.
I saw Rachel yesterday-but only for a bit which blows.
I had the most dissatisfying outing with Andy today. Dissatisfying because of time.More like-the lack of time.
And i haven't seen the rest of my lovely's for too long.
I dunno, In general i don't feel like my heart is here-- it's stuck with the people i love, who are obnoxiously in a bunch of places.

whoops
and I just realised I forgot to mention that the garbage can is predominantly green-filled, due to a nice sampling of sweet peas... :) yummmm
garbage full of sweet pea pods
back in the country girls! It is really, well, neat coming back to a country where you can read all the street signs and the clocks are the good ol' 12hour clocks with 'am' and 'pm.' Not that I have ANYTHING against 24hour clocks...they just seem so 'no-nonsense,' no wiggle room if you know what I mean. 'Kay, enough of that...
Wednesday I left Munchen with my Mom in the morning, luggage checked in fairly smoothly (one bulky item, two neat umbrellas from my beloved aunt :) ) and I didn't get labelled as 'terrorist suspect' or anything...although I lost my best scissors which I'd forgotten to shift to my check-in luggage :( ah well, if that's the only thing to complain about I'll count myself extremely lucky. Plane ride was long...but it was nice to fly during the daytime - it's pretty difficult to sleep on the plane, cramped seating, lights on, noise etc...but it's a small price to pay for a trip for sure. Plus, I got to update my 'movies watched' list - they showed three movies and I'm proud to say I watched all of them :P. "Marmaduke," "The Backup Plan," and "Prince of Persia." They could never compare to Fred Astaire or Doris Day in my opinion, but they were welcome entertainment. I'm pretty sure the plane we travelled on was fairly aged, it tended to creak and shudder a fair bit...and we passed through areas of turbulence frequently. Won't need a roller coaster ride anytime soon. Descending to the runway was the only worrisome part, the plane seemed to roll from side to side, due to the wind I think, and it must have taken some skill on the pilot's part to make sure we came down flat on the wheels...I've always marveled at the miniscule size of the plane wheels in proportion to its body. I figure it'd be like a pelican on toothpicks...sorry about the visual.
Our luggage took its time to arrive, but I managed to locate all of it and stack it onto the cart solo while my Mom figured out the next stage of transportation. We waited quite a while longer for the umbrellas, and then were redirected to another 'bulky luggage' area where they were waiting for us. No trouble in the customs section, and soon I was on a bus to downtown, where I got on the subway that brought me nearer to school. A bit of an interesting time walking my things to school, but all was well.
Internet is working, major plus, and I'm actually so relieved to be back in a completely familiar zone with people I know. Really, this past week it's just gotten more and more comfortable: from res on exchange I went to my uncle's house, then to school where I can now truly appreciate laundry and food being done for us and the security and direction that is provided. Wow, are we ever priviledged.
Yesterday we had a nice surprise, we got to go see the ballet company's version of the choreographic workshop :D. It was majorly neat to see the creative side of members we'd only ever seen performing other peoples' movements. It was quite the audience too, very small (the showing was in a large studio) but oh, how distinguished. And how amazing to see the company dancers only a few feet away! Wow, their good training, natural talent and professional know-how really stand out. Again, what a treat.
Today we had an 'academic Saturday,' which we'll have three more times this year in order to fulfill the ministry's requirements for the year. Four hours, four tasks. In short, our raw egg didn't break, our parachute floated lives to safety, our bridge defied all odds of flexibility and our straw-paperclip-rubberband contraption was closer to success than failure.
A quick lunchbreak, and then our art class got to go to our art teacher's house! She's so generous, we got to see her artwork, meet her daughter and exchange student, and then we had tea and homemade cake out in her garden, wowee! I'm SO excited for the art course, I've missed a consistent artsy escape this past year, and I just love being in the studio again.
I must head down for dinner before it closes...I hope you are all having a great weekend, busy I'm guessing by the lack of blogging (:P). I didn't have a chance to wish you all good luck on your first day of school (especially to you Rachel ;) ), but I was thinking of you and I can't wait to hear from you!
P.S. Rachel, Savannah says she needs you to send her the email with the link to allow her to start blogging...not sure about the details. Dunno if it's possible...hope the auditions went well :)

10 Buses and one Full Suitcase Later...
MOVING ON OUT TOMORROWWWWWWW. Woooo.AAAAH. Uh OHH.
Today i shoved random things in boxes while singing like a crazy person haha. Then i gave up and went to Staples with Amanda. Then to Shelby's to get jumped on by this wacked out dog and to play Wii. Hahahahaha i totally beat them lol. They weren't too happy with me after i knocked them off platforms for the 70th time :D
That's the whole fun of those Mario games lol.
Yesterday---- i took a total of 10 city buses. And now... i cringe just seeing one pass by haha. I'm kind of on a Mr.Roboto mode right now so i wont explain everything.
All i'll say is, My Grams is the funniest shopper ever. Her and her age defying lotions. For some reason that last sentence sounds weird to me.... ANYWAYS, time to hop around like a wackjob trying to pack her life into bags and boxes.
first week back(or not)
I hope you all are enjoying your first week back at, whatever it happens to be you're doing this year.
I've actually been enjoying it quite a bit myself. I spent 5 hours at the park yesterday with the 'not back to school picnic', and I got to go out for sushi with my dad today.
I've been productive too... my room no longer exists, that's a start. My dad is currently ripping out the carpet and all the paneling on the walls. So right now my basement is a big hot mess.
All my worldly possessions are split between the play room and my parents room. It is physically impossible to see the back wall of the play room. You can barely take 3 steps in before being confronted by a wall of stuff (that's a good title for a novel... the wall of stuff).
I'll be sleeping in my parents room for the next month is a bit while we work on the basement. It's real cosy. All six of us a basically living upstairs for the next little while. I just hope we can all stay on eachothers' good sides.
I've read some science, and I'm on the prowl for a good Shakespeare monologue for my audition...
I'm all signed up for my on-line course. We sent in my birth certificate in today, and sending a check soon.
I had a great time hanging with you girls at our indoor bon-fire(we missed you Maya, but I'm glad you're back in the country! or will be soon...). We have to hang out again soon, with ALL of us this time. I think we are over-due for some epic sistar sleepoverness. We have to make that happen.
I wish it wasn't so cold already! I want there to be a bit of summer left to enjoy....
In the next week and a bit I have choir to look forward too, 2 auditions, starting my on-line course, my first piano lesson with my new teacher, my first flute lesson back after my flute exam, the possibility of a new voice teacher(?), and of course patiently awaiting a post from one of you.

dance parties and lace cookies
Yesterday I had the honour of being a guest at a wedding with Rachel. The people getting married were somehow related to Dawna (I'm not quite sure exactly how:P) and her dad did the ceremony. I was the babysitter. But that was for about ten minutes with just Jadon. So mostly I was just a guest:)
At the reception, after dinner, they had dancing for the kids. Well, for everyone. But mostly it was just the kids up on the dance floor. And yes, we're kids;) It was so cute, Taja and Micah LOVED the chicken dance. And I got to dance with the cutest little girl ever (besides Taja)! We tried to convince the 10/11 year old boys to slow dance with us, but apparently they were too cool. Their loss.
Apart from Micah lifting up my dress and Jadon looking down the front, we had no wardrobe malfunctions. It was pretty casual. I felt super dressed up lol.
Then on the way home we had the awesome idea of a homeschooler dance party!! Woo!
We wanted to have a sleepover after the wedding, but it was kinda late so we're having one today!:D
Earlier I went to Rachel's house, and we baked a ton of cookies, some pretty and some...kinda not so much:P Basically I'd say our lace cookies were an epic fail. A tasty, sugary, fun to make fail, but still epic. Then we biked back here and Rachel's staying over:)

screw raincoats
Since Savannah hasn't joined us yet, I'll fill you in on what she's been up to:)
So, Rosemarie took Savannah, Kaya and I to Wonderland yesterday!! Woo! My dad managed to get us tickets for a pretty reasonable price, and we packed lunches to save money there too.
We left at about 9ish am, sooo excited for the whole day, and hoping the rain showers would go long enough to scare off a lot of other people from going, leaving the park pretty empty for us. Little did we know that a HUGE rainstorm was headed our way. After going on just ONE ride, we were informed that rides were being temporarily shut down due to weather. And just after this announcement, it started POURING on us. I changed into a bathingsuit because I knew anthing else I tried would be useless, so I might as well embrace being wet:P
I was not in a good mood though as we got our ice cream to pass some time. Seriously, no matter how cheap the tickets were, one ride was not worth it. We got SO ripped off.
However, after about an hour, the rain started to clear up... And guess what, it did it's job for us! Tons of people either went home or didn't end up coming to Wonderland that day, so the lines were awesome! The longest we waited was a half hour, and most of the time only about ten minutes. We went on pretty much every single roller coaster there, and on Behemoth 5 times (twice in the dark)! It was so pretty to be up that high, looking down on the city all lit up:)
While we were there, Savannah ate a lot of yummy (but bad for you:P) food too. She got funnel cake with ice cream, this cookie sandwich thing, sprite, a jawbreaker, a chocolate diped ice cream cone and hot chocolate from Starbucks. Yum.
Altogether, it was a really fun day!

small victories
Exciting news!
I got my mark from my flute exam a few weeks ago. My teacher called to tell me that the results were posted. I was so disappointed with what I got.
In my 'mock exam' I did with my teacher she gave me a 76%, and she told me that was with her deducting for every possible thing she could. I wasn't devastated, and I knew that I'd come out of the actual event with better.
But I only got a 71% in my real exam. And I was not impressed. Maybe I even cried, but we don't have to talk about that.
This week my teacher e-mailed me to say that she was going to appeal to get my mark changed. She was sure that the examiner had marked my pieces wrong. It seemed like she marked it out of 20 instead of 25, and that brought my mark down quite a bit.
I was talking to my teacher today and she said that out of all the years she has had students in the RCM exams she has never made an appeal. She can stand low marks, but the comments I got on my pieces didn't correspond with the 16 and 17.5 out of 25 she gave me.
This afternoon I got a call from my teacher.
The appeal was granted!
The examiner admitted that she was incorrect, and my mark has been changed!
It'll take them a while to change it on-line but it has been changed. And I am so thankful for that.
Now I can happily say that I came out of my Grade 6 Practical Flute Exam with 80%.
Here is a brief list of some of the other smallish victories of the moment:
The house is almost void of those pesky little fruit flies that have been plaguing us for the past month.
I made my transcript a couple weeks ago, and I'm not worried in the least for these last 2 years of high school.
Katlin is coming to a wedding with me tomorrow so I won't have to party all on my lonesome.
I have my piano and flute lesson times set for this season.
This blog is doing great so far (we just need to get Savannah connected and then we complete).

the second friday
Boy, it's kinda hard to believe that the day's almost over...whenever I'm at school I feel like I just go through days without completely registering them. I mean, I feel them - the sweat of dance classes, the smiles of friends, the endless homework assignments - but it feels like so many of the actions are just like flipping the pages of a book. So predictable and monotonous in ways.
Anyways, the two weeks are almost over with our final class tomorrow morning. It's been a rather intense period of 'getting back into shape,' usually we kind of ease into our full dance schedule, but as we are on exchange, we get to sample as many classes as possible. No mercy there ;)
But we had a few interesting ones, classes I mean. One modern class we did a bunch of improvisation; the teacher often sets restrictions (move with this quality or write your name with your movement etc) but our teacher gave us some that we'd never experienced before - "much fun." We also had two 'contact improv/modern' classes over the two week period which were very kewl ('cool' just doesn't cut it ;) ). Not crazy fancy stuff, lifts etc, but more just getting familiar with responding to others moving around you and improving our 'reaction' skills I guess...kinda hard to explain, but neat to experience. Today we had our last ballet class with the director of this school, it was really quite enjoyable, a nice change, and I came out of it feeling grateful for class that day...admittedly not something that I always feel.
Tonight we're lying low, last night was plenty enough excitement to last a while. But hopefully we can take a last trip to the city tomorrow and bathe in the glory of the Baroque structures...let's just hope it doesn't rain. Oh, big news, the sun actually came out today! haha, it actually brought a smile to my face...no, correction, grin. The Cheshire version.

As for the title, well, it is the second friday I've been on exchange, and it feels significant enough to be recognised. Whether it likes it, or not.
That's all for now, I hope our fifth lady joins uber soon (my attempt at German) and I hope the rest of you have a Gutes Nacht.
Why do streetcars hate me so?
YES, why indeed? I must say, although parts of the city are wondrous, the transit system has seemingly taken upon itself the job of doing away with me completely! In my first week here we had an unpleasant encounter with a less-than-human man on our way back from our first dinner out, and ended up having quite some difficulty finding our way to a working streetcar...not to mention trekking through a highly unsavoury part of town to accomplish it. All hostilities forgiven, this week we had a taste of the left-over communistic nature of some people in the region when we were reprimanded by a transit-worker for not carrying our passports with us...personally I would rather keep mine in a safe place until absolutely necessary, but supposedly that is not the expectation of all.
Finally, yesterday we were returning to our dorm from the Opera House (where we saw Swan Lake, so great!), pouring rain, and found out after waiting for over half an hour that the needed streetcar did not serve into the late evening...a taxi might have been an option if only a building with a phone and the telephone number were provided. But it was not so, and we hoped we could hop from tram to tram and at least come near our destination. Yikes, we made it a few stops, then had to wait another half-hour before the next streetcar came which would bring us halfway to our dorm. The system describing the order of stops was messed up, however, and we missed our stop - ending up far out into a really deserted, unfriendly part of town...after 11pm. We started to make our way back to the previous stop on foot, but some really big, mean looking characters coming toward us ensured our complete confusion in direction as we avoided them. If it weren't for a kind couple - the only beings we'd seen after what seemed like, well, way too long - I don't know exactly where I'd be right now. Wow, their decision to lend a hand to a lost Canadian felt like a miracle :)
So when I get back home, I am to send them a postcard, that is all they asked...all I know is the first name of the lady, and their faces, but I will never forget them and I will send them silent thank-you's every day. Who knows, perhaps one day I will be on the other side of the situation. All I know is, I will make sure to lend a hand to that person in need.

just beachy
Second time to the beach this week!
I got to bring a friend this time(I wanted to bring Monika too, but that didn't happen. Unfortunate responsibilities...)
Oh well, hopefully we can arrange another trip super soon.
I love having a beach surprisingly close to us, very convenient.
We just layed around for five hours and soaked up the sun. That, and entertained Jadon and splashed in the water with the kids for a bit too.
The kids are so cute running around the beach, completely free with out a care.
It took a while for us to leave. Micah was way too busy trying to capture a rouge butterfly.
I'm thrilled that we've actually started this blog and it seems to be going somewhere!
I think this will be a great year for all of us and that this space will help keep us connected.

5, 6, 7, 8!
whew! Long day today, but how exciting is it to blog for ze first time evah!! Neat stuff I must say. This summer has been one of the busiest for most of us I think, what with camps and schooling, travelling to visit relatives and of course getting all of the necessary things done that cannot possibly fit into the schedules that we live by during the school-year. The few times we did share were well spent though, and I've been thinking about them ever since. Those birthday parties were so fun, and sleeping in the tent was unforgettably comfy! Not to mention meeting Andy for the first time and going shopping for some epic things. For me, this summer has meant minimal time spent at home, and I must say that I will never treasure home more - now that I have been away. Although living away at school is, well, away - there is nothing like experiencing the complete unfamiliar in a different country, new people, different expectations and ways of conduct. Going on exchange has been an invaluable experience, allowing me to figure out - bit by bit - the ins and outs of travelling, finding the best in people, and realizing not only my hopes, but my limitations as well. The end of this week will mark the end of an exciting period in Germany, and at the same time, the somewhat relieved return to what is for me a 'normal norm.'
Before I came to the school which I am attending on exchange I had the most amazing few days meeting my relatives, and I cannot believe how at home I felt with them. It is eye-opening to experience just how much one can connect with family...that being said, I must say that some friends can have such a profound impact on one's life that an amazingly strong connection can be carried all through life!
So, to these amazing friends, thank you for all those precious moments we've spent together, you never cease to amaze me and I think of you all the time. Here's to seeing each other again, real soon. Enjoy your last week of official summer! (haha, here it is raining 24/7, so much for that!)
