BINGO.

It IS always the crazy ones who end up making history. Not just that, but it's the 'crazy' ones who end up "making peoples' days" and creating moments that remain blazed in memories for years to come.
Katlin, I think if your gut feeling is that you shouldn't just let it go, you shouldn't. I mean, sometimes it is just too much to take on (opposing people or an idea or authority etc) but if you cannot get it out of your mind then that is showing that it truly means something to you. And you should stand up for matters that have a profound meaning. Personally, the only thing that gets to me is when highly-opinionated individuals refuse to let up on an issue that doesn't concern them whatsoever just for the sake of argument. You are the total opposite: as far as I can tell, you've been thinking about this issue for a long time, your thoughts are both thorough and just, and you aren't aiming to "topple" people or authority so much as just to raise awareness. Are you hoping only to open eyes about specific world issues, or are you wanting to impact the manner in which school authorities deal with them? Because, I find - again and again - that people often shove things away out of spite, ignorance, or selfishness. I would base my opposition carefully on whatever their main reason was; that way the situation can be approached more professionally and, if you like, elegantly. That, I think, is something that people will notice. A "formal opposition" as opposed to a loud-mouthed teenager who is rebelling for the sake of rebelling (not you obviously). It's just hard sometimes because adults and authority in particular have the tendency to immediately brand any opposition as "teenaged rebellion" and will come down with force. If you can convince them diplomatically and thoughtfully (it is a major strain on patience, I know, so frustrating) then not only will they likely listen to you and follow your lead, but you'll have a reputation that will allow you to act further.
I'm sorry, I didn't mean to lecture or anything - I hope it didn't come across that way. You probably knew all that already, but I just wanted to remind you of your natural sophistication, cause I find I forget about it when I'm really passionate about a frustrating situation.
Best of luck sis,
keep us updated!
